Teapot FAQs
Can you use tea bags in a glass teapot?
You sure can. A tea bag is essentially a type of infuser, so if you want to put a tea bag in a teapot, there’s nothing stopping you. It should make a great pot of tea!
If you prefer loose leaf tea, then a glass teapot is a great way to get a visual on your tea’s infusion. Watch it steep in the glass pot, and watch the tannins leach out into the hot water until your tea is ready. For tea lovers, this is all part of the beauty of making a perfect cup of tea!
Benefits of using a teapot
Using a teapot is a great way to brew for more than one person at a time, and is the perfect option for when you’re having people over for morning or afternoon tea, or enjoying tea at the end of a dinner party.
Many people also like to brew a pot of tea at the start of their day, particularly if they‘re busy and can’t keep going to the kitchen for a new tea bag. Tea in a pot stretches your tea a little further, and you can adjust the strength of your tea by adding more or less tea or water.
You can also keep a pot of tea warm by either using a tea cosy or tea warmer.
Using a teapot is fun too! If you’re someone who enjoys the step-by-step process of making a cup of tea using classy tea gear, then the ritual of brewing a pot of tea is highly enjoyable and relaxing. Not to mention the sound of pouring tea from a pot to your cup and seeing the steam rise up! It’s a great way to have a moment of mindfulness in your day.
How do you steep tea in a glass teapot?
It’s easy. Either place a tea bag in the teapot and pour on the water, or use a tea infuser that holds loose leaf tea. The infuser allows the tea to steep in the water, but stops the tea leaves from ending up in your cup at the end.
There’s a lot of variation when it comes to how long to steep tea. At a minimum, you should steep your tea in hot water for at least 3 minutes. The general range is 3-5 minutes. If you leave the tea leaves in your pot for longer, you will get a stronger cup of tea, however with practice you can adjust this, by using more or less tea, according to your preference.
For cold teas, it’s a different story. For the best cup of room temperature or chilled tea, steep the tea for at least 30 minutes in cold water.
Does tea taste better from a teapot?
Tea from a teapot, from a teabag, or steeped in the cup using an infuser can all taste wonderful. The most important factor is the quality of the tea. Choose the freshest and best-quality tea to ensure great flavours. Tea Tonic sources high-quality teas to include in our diverse tea range, and we package them to ensure freshness and a long shelf life.
What is a teapot warmer?
A teapot warmer is a device you sit your teapot on, that heats the teapot at a steady temperature. This ensures your tea stays warm as you get through drinking your pot.
Most tea warmers are heated with a tealight candle, though electric versions exist.
Tea Tonic stocks stainless steel teapot warmers, and a set that includes the teapot and tea warmer in one pack.
Hot Tip: Keep your tea light candles in the freezer to extend your burn time!
