What are the benefits of choosing organic tea?
Keeping your tea free of toxic chemicals is clearly better for your health. But, it’s not just what we leave out that matters – it’s all the goodness that goes in.
Countless studies have shown that organic foods have a higher nutritional value. In fact, recent international research found that organic plant-based foods (like Tea Tonic tea) contain around 25% more nutrients than non-organic equivalents. If you’re going to drink tea, why not make every cup count?
Plus, the beauty of the organic market is that the benefits extend beyond the consumer. Conventionally grown tea is one of the most environmentally damaging crops in the world. The chemicals not only wreak havoc with the ecosystem, they also harm the farmers who spray them. Organic tea, on the other hand, is grown in harmony with nature – usually by small, local farmers who take enormous pride in their product.
Would you prefer to drink tea that was grown in a toxic environment, or one that was made with love by nature? We know what nourishes us more!
How do I know if it’s organic?
When purchasing tea – or any organic product – an always look for a 'Certified Organic' logo such as the Australian Certified Organic bud. This certification is a stamp of approval, which guarantees the integrity of your food.
Certification is hard to achieve, particularly in Australia. It takes 3 years to become an Australian Certified Organic Producer, during which time farmers are audited to comply with strict standards. For consumers, this is good news. It means only the highest quality products – like Tea Tonic teas – pass the organic test.
Why is organic more expensive?
Organic produce, including tea, can be more costly than non-organic. However, the higher cost of organic products reflects the higher quality standards. Put simply, it’s more expensive to make pure, nutritious foods compared to foods packed with chemicals.
Plus, when you consider the high health and environmental costs of chemical-laden food, it makes sense to choose organic. We only get one body and one planet. So, when it comes to sustainability, the real question becomes, “Can we afford to not go organic?”
