How To Make Mulled Wine With Tea Bags | Tea Tonic

Mulled Wine with Tea Bags

As the days grow shorter and the air gets crisper, it's time to embrace the cosy comforts of autumn. What better way to warm up than with a steaming mug of mulled wine? This recipe uses our Warm Spicy blend, infusing your drink with the perfect blend of autumnal flavours like cinnamon, ginger, and cloves.

Ingredients

  • 1 (750 ml) bottle of dry red wine (Merlot or Pinot Noir work well)
  • 4 bags of our Warm Spicy Tea
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • Garnish: Cocktail Candy Dehydrated Orange
  • Optional: 2-3 star anise for extra spice

Instructions

Step1: Combine Ingredients

In a large saucepan, combine the red wine (and apple cider if using), tea bags, orange slices, honey/maple syrup, optional star anise, and cranberries (if using).

Step 2: Simmer and Steep

Gently heat the mixture over medium-low heat until it reaches a simmer. Avoid boiling. Reduce heat to low and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavours to infuse.

Step 3: Strain and Serve

Remove from heat and carefully strain out the tea bags, spices, and fruit. Serve your mulled wine warm in mugs or heatproof glasses. Don't forget to garnish with our favourite Cocktail Candy Dehydrated Orange

Special Twist: Cranberry and Apple Cider

  • Replace 1 cup of the red wine with 1 cup of unsweetened apple cider
  • Add ½ cup fresh or frozen cranberries

Tips

  • Garnish Ideas: A cinnamon stick, dehydrated orange, or a few of the simmered cranberries make lovely garnishes.
  • Sweetness Control: Start with less sweetener and adjust to your liking after the mulled wine has steeped.
  • Make it Your Own: Experiment with additional warm spices like cardamom or a pinch of nutmeg.

Enjoy the unique and festive flavour of this Tea Tonic-infused mulled wine!
