Natural Sweet Tea FAQs
What kind of tea is naturally sweet tea?
Naturally sweet tea is not sweetened by sugar or artificial sweeteners. It simply uses tea ingredients that possess sweetness in and of themselves. Examples are our Apple Tree Tea, which contains not only sweet apple pieces, but also other elements that add to the sweetness, like blackberry leaves and hibiscus flowers. All combined, our sweet teas are a perfect accompaniment to dessert or a cheese platter, or just to be savoured on their own.
Is sweet tea just sugar water?
No. Rather than adding sugar or artificial sweeteners, our sweet tea combines natural ingredients and flavours to create a sweet-on-the-tongue experience, without the additional calories. In some teas, we use pure monk fruit which is a sugar alternative that is safe for diabetics to enjoy.
Is it healthy to drink natural sweet tea?
Many of our natural sweet teas contain no caffeine, and include ingredients that are rich in antioxidants. Others, like our Berry Green Tea, do include a little pep-giving caffeine, but also include properties said to help boost metabolism.
All in all, we don’t make health claims about our teas, other than to say there’s nothing healthier for the body and soul than having a joyful cup of tea solo or with friends!
Is there a naturally sweet tea?
Yes. Many popular fruits, leaves and spices are turned into teas, or more correctly, tisanes. Some of these ingredients possess naturally sweet flavours. These include licorice, monk fruit, berries (strawberry, raspberry, and blackberry leaves), rosehip, cinnamon, star anise, chamomile and rooibos. No doubt you will be familiar with many of these flavours, but you may not have thought about their inherent sweetness. Well, now is a good time to try them out!
